Ever wanted to see Mr David Bowie’s face every night when you come home? Like any girl with a penchant for a guy who knows how to dance (in the street) I have wondered what it must be like.

If you have a handy 400,000 big ones, you may be able to live the dream. An apartment block in Prahan has been designed with four-story façade featuring Bowie’s Aladdin Sane photograph, proving that he was doing lightning bolts and sparkly skin before it was cool.

The creative minds behind the design are Tin&ed, who formed in 2004 and can already include The Royal Women’s Hospital, Puma, Lee Jeans, Myer, BMW and others on their resume.

A somewhat androgynous journey through the desert accompanied by loose fitting garments and oversized yet slender tees? No, it’s not a mazeless sequel to The Labyrinth staring David Bowie.

It’s Chronicles of Never.

It’s no surprise that this monochromatic and draped look comes straight from the talented Ksubi founder, Gareth Moody. In a similar manner to previous seasons, the collection, “Blind Silence Audible Vision“, uses geometrical trickery to distort the figure resulting in flowing shapes and soothing curves.

Lily Allen showcasing some of her new pieces

British singer and compulsive Twitterer, Lily Allen, has launched a new collection of jewellery, influenced by Chanel and Dinny Hall.

In an interview with Now Magazine, Lily stated that her jewellery is aimed at everyone who likes fun and colour – which is apparent from the nine ranges including flowers, fruit, animals, girl charms, acid faces, coins, medalions, traffic signs and poodles (of course).

Lily is very proud of her new collection, sharing this insight:

“I love jewellery, always have done. I feel that it completes an outfit. You can change your whole look just by changing which jewellery you choose to go with what you’re wearing.”

While we do enjoy the coloured Swarovski crystals featured on the Large Flamingo pendant necklace, we’re surprised that there aren’t any pieces containing a girl’s best friend. After all, you can’t go around saying “I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds” while wearing Cubic Zirconia.

Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2009

Today marks the first day of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week – a week full of celebrating next season in this fashion capital. This year there are more than 100 free and ticketed events available to the public, exploring Spring/Summer fashion for the end of 09 and the start of 2010.

There’s something for everyone with events including lunch-time fashion shows, street parades, shopping tours, markets, film festivals and workshops. Many of these events are followed up by some of the hottest after parties at Melbourne’s most stylish venues.

Highlights from today’s events include The Third Floor at Mag Nation T-Shirt Exhibition, The Spirit of the Black Dress – Emerging Fashion Designers in exhibition at Georges and Kevin Murphy Hair Workshops.

As for tonight, the MSFW Designer Series opens at Melbourne Town Hall with their first show including hot new looks from MATERIALBYPRODUCT, Gwendolynne, Easton Pearson, Chrisine, Aurelio Costarella and Akira.

Rabbit featured in Cineraria

Reproducing dead animals for display at a historical exhibition is one thing, but when it’s combined with jewellery specifically designed to wear on one’s body, it’s sure to turn heads.

Julia DeVille originally began her career as a shoe designer, inventing the leather accessories brand Abattoir before realizing it wasn’t her thing. After this, DeVille was taught the art form of taxidermy through the retired professional, Rudy Mineur. During this time she also received a degree in advanced gold and silversmithing. It was this knowledge across seemingly unrelated disciplines that lead her to create her style of jewellery known as Disce Mori (Latin for “learn to die“).

Now focusing as a full-time artist, her exhibition “Cineraria” is currently on display at the Sophie Gannon Gallery in Richmond. The exhibition features a collection of sculptural works exploring mortality and the rituals behind the preservation or disposal of the dead.

Basically, it’s full of creepy-awesome dead things and if this rabbit appeals to you, check it out.
